About

I got into AI because the problems never get boring.

I'm Matt, Principal AI Engineer at Lucanet. I work with startups and SMEs who know where AI fits but don't have the engineer to build it.

I've worked across SaaS, energy, ecology, go-to-market. Different industries, different data, same conversation every time: the last AI project didn't land, and now they need someone who'll actually own it.

The gap between a demo and a system that actually runs is where most AI projects die. I build systems designed to get better. Feedback loops, clear metrics, and enough visibility that the team can keep improving it long after I'm gone.

The hard part isn't building it. It's picking the approach that still makes sense in six months. Models improve, tooling shifts, and best practice from last quarter is already outdated. I stay close to the edge so my clients don't have to.

How I work

A few things that matter to me.

Every project is different, but these stay consistent.

Something real, fast

You'll have a working prototype on your own data within weeks. Not a slide deck. Something you can actually react to.

One point of contact

I scope it, build it, and explain it. Same person on every call.

Built to get better

V1 ships with evals and observability baked in. The system improves over time, and your team can see exactly why.

You own everything

Code, docs, deployment config. Your team can run it, modify it, or bring someone else in. No lock-in.

Honest about fit

I don't have a platform to sell. If a simpler tool solves the problem, I'll say so.

Best job in the world. I get paid to explore things that didn't exist two years ago and build the ones that move the needle.
